5 Packing Tips for Business Travel

Packing for business trips can be easily overlooked, especially when having to prepare important details like scheduling meetings or practising speeches for a conference. Instead of tossing the essentials into your luggage at the last minute, a little planning can save you time, hassle, and even money. Once you’re better organized with your packing, it will be a much simpler ordeal when it comes time to repack and rush to the airport. Below are some tips on how you can efficiently pack for business trips for more convenient travel.

Try Sticking to Carry-On Baggage Only 

Whether your business trip is for a weekend, week, or a month, travelling with only a carry-on is much more efficient than having to deal with the hassles of checking your luggage. This way, you’ll be able to skip crowded lines (at both check-in and baggage claim) and you won’t have to worry about airlines misplacing your valuable items. It’s much more comforting to have your items with you during the flight so you can arrive at your destination with ease. Some airlines also allow you to take a personal item in which you can opt for a small laptop bag to help sort out your technology.

Don’t Overpack

Airlines are limiting in terms of weight and size, especially if you’ve chosen to travel with just a carry-on. It’s always tempting to cram your luggage with items you might think you need. Most airlines have weight restrictions on both carry-on and checked luggage so it’s best to be smart when packing. Start with the items you know you’ll need, and work your way up from there. There are travel sized alternatives to almost everything from toothbrushes and mouthwash, to deodorant and hairspray so you won’t have to sacrifice your products, just the size.

Plan Your Outfits

Clothing is usually what takes up most of the space in your luggage, but its best to avoid shoving in all your favourite pieces. Packing items that do double duty is ideal. For men, pack just one suit and bring a few different shirts and ties to pair with your jacket and pants. For ladies, accessorizing with small necklaces or scarves is easy, while staples like a pencil skirt, or slacks can pair with different lightweight blouses. Save even more time and hassle by packing wrinkle-free clothing and avoid packing items that can easily crease. Don’t forget to roll your clothes to save on space and ironing.

Don’t Forget to Re-Charge

Chances are, you’ll be bringing your laptop, phone, or a few other devices with you on your trip, and it can be detrimental when your batteries are left at zero. Portable chargers are life-savers; they’re small enough to tuck into your carry-on and will offer a way to keep your devices charged while you’re on the go. While you’re keeping your devices charged, don’t forget to fuel your own body as well. Flying can be a long and daunting process so be sure to pack a few light snacks like granola bars and fruit to keep your energy high and your tummy happy.

With a little bit of planning, packing can be one less thing to stress about when travelling for business. Keeping things simple and organized will allow you the time to focus on more important things, and will ensure that you don’t succumb to the pressures of travel. While these tips may be a major transition for some, it will be worth your while in the long run. Business Continuity

Our first step was to invoke our Business Continuity Plan. We are entirely digital and do not rely on any manual processes. We are also completely cloud-based and diversified through our use of Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Our office team is mobile-ready and has access to all critical infrastructure, including our cloud-based phone and booking systems. Rest assured - we are prepared to continue serving you.

Flexible Cancellations

For any new reservations booked directly with us, and until April 30, 2020, the booking can be cancelled at any time before arrival and with no cancellation fee.

New Arrivals

Toronto Public Health announced enhanced measures to protect the public on March 13, 2020, and are currently in effect until April 5, 2020. Anyone who has travelled from anywhere outside Canada, including the United States, is asked to self-isolate and avoid contact with others for 14 days.

Weekly Touch Up Service

For your safety and ours, weekly touch up service is cancelled until April 30, 2020. We encourage guests to utilize the ensuite washer and dryer to launder their linens and towels. For guests wishing to receive fresh linens, please send a request through Guest Services, and we will arrange to pick up your used linens (left in a bag at the front door inside the suite) and drop off fresh linen for you to use.

Our Commitment to High Cleaning Standards

We have always utilized commercial hospitality-grade cleaning procedures and supplies. We use specialized chemicals for different surfaces to ensure optimal disinfection. We also use new gloves and separate microfibre cleaning cloths for each suite to prevent cross-contamination. Any linens or cleaning cloths supplies by us have been professionally sanitized at a large commercial laundry facility.

Suite Visits by Guest Services & Maintenance

Until April 30, 2020, we will not conduct any suite tours for prospective guests, nor will any of our Maintenance or Guest Services team members visit occupied suites for any issues other than those relating to essential services.
