The advantage to renting a furnished apartment in downtown Toronto is that it lets you see and experience the city as if you were a local. But what places do the locals actually go when they are downtown? We have come up with some of the best things to do when you are staying in Toronto and want do as the locals do.
If you are staying in Toronto you should eat like a local. Just about any type of food that you can imagine can be found downtown. For those who are looking to satisfy their carnivorous cravings, there is the Black Hoof, which features both common and some more exotic meat choices. For a good old fashioned burger, one of the local favorites is the Burger’s Priest, which is on Queen’s St. The burgers are amazingly fresh and juicy. Should you find yourself near the Financial District, make sure to check out Mystic Muffin, a local bakery that is both affordable and extremely delicious.
Make It Sporting
Perhaps one of the greatest things about downtown Toronto is that there are a number of great sporting events that you can check out, all within a short distance from each other. Want to catch a Blue Jays game? Roger’s stadium is right there, and just down the street from there is the Air Canada Centre, which is home to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. Considering how easy it is to catch a live game, it seems crazy to not take advantage of the opportunity.
Need something to do with your evening? If live music is your thing then consider the Hideout on Queen which is located, obviously, on Queen St. It’s a good place to listen to some of the local bands and rock your heart out. Should you prefer something a little less loud then try the Fifth Social Club on Richmond St. For those looking to sit back and catch a play, there is the Ed Mirvish Theatre, where there is always a performance going on.
